ILFORD GALERIE GOLD Fibre Silk wins TIPA award for Best Fine Art Inkjet Paper

Marly, Switzerland, 25 April, 2008 – ILFORD announces today that its GALERIE GOLD Fibre Silk media has been awarded the prestigious TIPA Award for Best Fine Art Inkjet Paper. The TIPA jury, made up of 27 technical editors and journalists from 11 different European countries, made their choice taking into account innovation, the use of leading-edge technology, design and ergonomics of the product and, naturally, its ease of use and price/performance ratio.

"ILFORD is delighted to have received this prestigious award as it confirms the original product aspiration of producing an inkjet media that could match the quality of a traditional silver halide photographic print,” said Andrew Stewart, Sales and Marketing Director, ILFORD Imaging Switzerland GmbH. “ILFORD sought the views of leading professional photographers during the design phase and based the product specifications on their feedback. This award is great recognition for the ILFORD brand and for everybody who was involved in the creation of GALERIE GOLD,” he concluded.

Commenting on the winning entry, the TIPA panel said,”In line with the market transition from the analogue darkroom to the digital arena, ILFORD has set a new standard by producing the equivalent of a classic fibre-based silver image print using inkjet technology. ILFORD GALERIE GOLD Fibre Silk is a 310gsm inkjet paper featuring a traditional barium sulphate (baryta) base. The baryta enhances the media surface that gives the creamy whites and velvety blacks that form part of the unique look and feel of a true fibre print. The media also produces real high definition images with an extended tonal range, making it a must for exhibition-quality images ranging from vivid colour to dramatic black & white prints.”

ILFORD GALERIE GOLD Fibre Silk available in South Africa through New Teltron (Pty) Ltd.
